About Shahid M C Sharma

Mohan Chand Sharma, (2 July 1965 - 19 September 2008), joined the Delhi Police as a sub-inspector in 1989 and got an out of turn promotion in 1995 when he was elevated to the rank of an Inspector. Sharma was Delhi Police's top sharp shooters and had many encounter killings to his name. The 43-year-old brave officer who led from the front is alleged to have received 4 bullet injuries, 3 to the stomach, during an encounter in New Delhi on Friday 19 September, 2008, morning, and later succumbed to his injuries. The autopsy report suggests that Sharma was killed by a high velocity bullet, probably at close quarters. He was cremated with full police honours on the next day.

He had killed 35 alleged terrorists and was responsible for the arrest of 80 alleged terrorists. The officer had also killed 120 gangsters during his career. He was involved in more than 75 gun battles, several involving alleged gangsters from Uttar Pradesh. His team claimed to have solved the Red Fort attack, the Parliament attack, and the 2005 Diwali blasts cases.

AWARDS:
Sharma who was awarded a Police Gold Medal for gallantry on Republic Day 2008 by the President of India, has in all received 150 rewards in his police career so far, including seven gallantry medals. He won seven gallantry medals including a President's award and 150 police rewards.

Tribute to Mohan Chand Sharma :
Saheed Mohan Chand Sharma was an officer par- excellence of Delhi Police. He was a dedicated officer of Delhi Police. A compasionate, patiotic, calm, caring and disciplined soul, for whom the nation was a top priority. He had always led his team from the front. His sacrifice will never go in vain. This is he time that we all INDIANS, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and faith shall come forward and take a vow to carry forward the mission of Saheed Mohan Chand Sharma to its logical conclusion. This will be the true tribute to the departed soul. The loss to the family can never be substituted. Still we all may pray to the god the Mrs. Sharma shall be able to fulfill his dreams for his children. Terrorism never pays.

In this country , probably we need a thousand Mohan Chand Sharma.
Mohan is a guiding light for not only the police department, but all the Indians.
